PayPal USD/Guernsey Pound (PYUSD/GGP) capitalisation and volume charts
PayPal USD (PYUSD) is a stablecoin launched by PayPal, designed for payments. It is backed by secure and highly liquid assets and is pegged to the US dollar at a 1:1 ratio, meaning 1 USD is equal to 1 PYUSD. PYUSD is an ERC20 token issued on the Ethereum blockchain and will allow PayPal customers, merchants, and developers to seamlessly connect fiat and digital currencies. It can be used to fund purchases and will soon be available on PayPal’s popular payments app Venmo. Users will eventually be able to send their token holdings between a PayPal and a Venmo wallet.
PYUSD was created by PayPal, an American company operating a worldwide online payments system that supports online money transfers. PayPal was founded in December 1998 as Confinity by Max Levchin, Peter Thiel, Luke Nosek, and Ken Howery. In March 2000, Confinity merged with X.com, an online banking company founded by Elon Musk. In October of that year, X.com changed its legal name to PayPal and its focus shifted from software security to the development of a digital wallet.
