KuCoin Token (KCS) is the native token of the KuCoin exchange, which was launched in 2017 as a profit-sharing token that offers value to traders. Initially, KCS was an ERC-20 token running on the Ethereum network, supported by most Ethereum wallets. As the KuCoin decentralized trading solution goes live, KCS is set to become the native asset of KuCoin's decentralized financial services and the governance token of the KuCoin community.
KuCoin Token was brought to life by a team of co-founders, including COO Eric Don, marketing director Jack Zhu, president of business operations John Lee, operations and maintenance director Kent Li, chief legal consultant Linda Lin, CEO Michael Gan, and CTO Top Lan. The exchange itself is headquartered in Singapore and was launched on September 15, 2017.
KCS has multiple uses within the KuCoin ecosystem. It serves as a utility token used for trading fees on the KuCoin Exchange. KCS is also used in the token sale on KuCoin Spotlight and in the LockDrop/BurningDrop on the Pool-X platform. Additionally, KCS holders can become KuCoin VIPs, unlocking reduced maker and taker fees without needing a significant BTC trading volume.
