What is ShareToken (SHR)?

ShareToken (SHR) is a digital utility token used on the ShareRing platform, including the ShareRing application, ShareRing shop, and ShareRing ID. The ShareRing platform, built on blockchain technology, aims to simplify the fragmented and complex service sharing economy by offering a single decentralized marketplace and digital currency. This allows users to access and pay for services globally across various industries​.

ShareRing is developing several products, including:

• ShareLedger: A versatile blockchain that supports a wide range of applications, including the secure storage of documents like e-visas, receipts, and passports. It also validates payments and helps eliminate foreign exchange charges.
• ShareRingID: A self-governed identity account that integrates with the network's services, initially used for hotel bookings with plans to expand to other services like car rentals.

What is ShareToken (SHR) used for?

ShareToken powers the ShareLedger blockchain, a "smart service system" that facilitates easy access to a wide range of assets within the sharing economy. This blockchain is designed to be a dual token mechanism, with ShareToken (SHR) as the utility token and SharePay (SHRP) as the currency for sharing services. The ShareRing platform, compared to the Amazon of the sharing economy, enables users to rent, borrow, or share any available asset globally through a single app. It incorporates a distributed blockchain (ShareLedger), a smartphone app, and ongoing mechanisms to grow its network of providers and users​​.

ShareRing's blockchain platform also focuses on verifying and storing digital identities and key documents in a secure Personal Information Vault. This vault can hold essential documents like passports, driver's licenses, COVID test results, and vaccination certificates, ensuring that only the owner decides how and when they are accessed or used. The platform aims to serve industries including travel, insurance, healthcare, logistics, education, cryptocurrency, and charity​​.

Who created ShareToken (SHR)?

ShareToken and ShareRing were co-founded by Tim Bos, Rohan Le Page, Peter David, Neville Christie, Jane Sadler-Kidd, and Barry Brewster. The founders, with backgrounds in developing car-sharing and rental technology solutions, leveraged their experience to create the ShareRing ecosystem. Prior to ShareToken, they developed a white-label car-sharing solution called Keaz, which contributed to their understanding of shared services. Rohan Le Page, with extensive experience in the automotive industry, served as ShareRing's COO until June 2020.
