Shrapnel (SHRAP) is a multi-faceted utility token. It is an ERC-20 token created on the Avalanche C-chain and brought to the Shrapnel subnet for use. The token is part of the Shrapnel platform, a new kind of game from an award-winning team. Shrapnel is a decentralized financial payment network that rebuilds the traditional payment stack on the blockchain. It utilizes a basket of fiat-pegged stablecoins, algorithmically stabilized by its reserve currency SHRAP, to facilitate programmable payments and open financial infrastructure development.
The SHRAP token provides utility and serves as the medium of exchange on the Shrapnel platform. It is used to enable systematic payment of validators in the subnet, giving players and creators a gasless experience. Additionally, the SHRAP token is used in the Shrapnel Marketplace. SHRAP tokens are also used to secure a callsign (gamer name/tag) on the Shrapnel website.
The SHRAP token was developed by Neon, a company that evolved out of HBO Interactive. They are the studio responsible for developing Shrapnel. Despite the shared name, the SHRAP tokens have no official ties to the Neon company.
